My student loans could have bought me a Rembrandt

Everyone loves to talk about student loan debt these days and I thoroughly enjoy hearing what everyone has to say on the subject. Mostly, it is comforting to know that I am not alone in feeling the crush of debt thanks to a higher education. In reading the latest changes Obama made to paying back federal loans I began to wonder exactly what I could get for the money I currently owe on my student loans, which is only growing by the day. There are always the obvious things you think about: a house, ridiculous car, or a couture wardrobe. Turns out I can also add owning a Rembrandt drawing to that list. Rembrandt's drawing entitled "The Judgment" was stolen in August of 2011, but it was also valued at over $250,000, which happens to be the same amount my student loans are worth. I realize that is a ridiculous amount of debt and I wish I could tell you it covers both undergraduate school and law school, but it doesn't. That is straight up student debt thanks to law school. It wasn't too scary at first, but then when I graduated I was hit with an extra $100,000 in capitalized interest...didn't see that coming. What could you buy with your student loan debt?
